Open An M16 Airsoft Rifle

Open an M-16 Airsoft Rifle

Airsoft guns are hobby guns that replicate guns used by the U.S. military. Airsoft guns use forced air to shoot plastic BBs, whereas BB guns use metal BBs and shoot like real guns. Sometimes a BB can get stuck in the Airsoft M-16 rifle chamber, making it necessary for you to open the gun for repair.

Instructions

1. Check the weapon to make sure it is not loaded and that the chamber is clear of ammunition. Release the magazine by pushing the button on the left side of the gun just above the hand grip.

2. Remove the retaining pin located on the right side of the gun above the grip. Once the pin is removed, take out the cap on the left side of the gun holding the pin in place and remove the pin.

3. Snap the gun apart by nudging the barrel forward while pulling the handle upward until the gun barrel flips forward. This will expose the inner chamber and the springs.

4. Remove the inner barrel from the outer barrel casing. This 6 millimeter inner tube is what controls the precision of the BBs when shot, so be careful not to bend it when removing it. The hop-up--the part of the gun attached to the end of this inner barrel--is what controls the spin of the BBs when exiting the gun and affects the accuracy of the weapon.

5. Put the outer barrel back onto the gun body, and remove the screw on the left side of the gun just in front of the magazine slot by using the Allen wrench. This pin is what makes the barrel pitch forward; removing it will detach the barrel from the weapon.

6. Now that you've removed all the screws and disassembled the weapon you can completely see all the components to repair or service your weapon.
