Clean Algae From Water Bottles

Clean Algae From Water Bottles

Algae are living organisms that need water and sunlight to flourish. If water is left sitting in a water bottle that is exposed to the sun, green algae may form and contaminate the water. This condition is especially common in animal water bottles that may stand stagnant for several days. There is a safe and effective way to successfully clean algae from water bottles by incorporating some easily obtainable items. Follow simple procedures to purify your drinking apparatus. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Mix a solution of one part 3 percent hydrogen peroxide and one part water.

2. Pour the mixture into the water bottle. The peroxide solution will effectively kill and eliminate the algae from your bottle.

3. Add 1/2 cup of gravel to the water bottle. The gravel will help to dislodge algae that may be clinging to the bottom and sides of the water bottle.

4. Secure the lid on your water bottle and shake several times.

5. Allow the bottle to set for several hours and then empty the contents and dispose of the gravel.

6. Rinse the bottle a few times with fresh water. All traces of algae should be removed and your water bottle will be ready for its next use.
