Connect A Hose To A Barb Clamp

A barb clamp fitting has a male-threaded end used to mate with female threads. The other end of the fitting has either a single or multiple barbed tube that you can slip a hose over. An adjustable worm driver screw clamp keeps the hose from slipping off the barbed tube. Barb fittings can be made of plastic or brass. Brass is used for hot water applications and plastic is used for cold. The barb fitting can be elbow-shaped or straight. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Slide a worm drive screw clamp over the end of the hose. Slide it onto the hose about 6 inches.

2. Set the end of the hose in a cup of scalding hot water for 5 to 10 minutes. This will make the hose pliable.

3. Line the end of the hose up with the end of the barb fitting. Push the hose onto the tube until it seats firmly behind all of the barbs on the fitting.

4. Slide the worm drive screw clamp up over the barb or barbs. Tighten it with a flat-head or Phillips screwdriver.
