Barrel Full Of Monkeys Directions

Nothing is more fun than a barrel full of monkeys unless, of course, it's the game "Barrel of Monkeys." This classic from Hasbro, which dates back to 1966, is packaged in a small plastic barrel. Inside are 12 plastic monkeys with their arms in the perfect position to connect to each other. The goal is keep linking monkeys and make the longest chain possible. "Barrel of Monkeys" is recommended for children 3 and up.

Instructions

Multiple Players

1. Place all 12 monkeys in one-half of the barrel. Place the other half of the barrel on top of the first half.

2. Shake the barrel to mix the monkeys up and get the arms to hook up.

3. Open the barrel and toss the monkeys on a flat playing surface.

4. Grab one monkey by its arm and lift it. Use the other arm of that monkey to try to pick up a second monkey by the arm. Loop as many monkeys as possible this way to create a long chain. When a monkey falls, that player's turn is over.

5. Count the number of monkeys still hanging from the original one in your hand. Each monkey counts as one point. The first player to get 12 points wins.

Single Player

6. Place all the monkeys in the barrel and shake them. Toss the monkeys on the table.

7. Turn on a stopwatch.

8. Pick up one monkey by its arm and use the other arm to link a second monkey.

9. Stop the stopwatch when you have picked up all 12 monkeys. The goal from game to game is just to lower your time.
