Plastic bags can become entwined in the limbs of sea creatures.
While plastic is a durable and long-lasting material used in a variety of industries, its non-biodegradability also makes it an extremely problematic source of trash. Furniture
A variety of furniture is made of recycled plastic, including picnic tables in assorted shapes and sizes, backless benches, chairs for the porch or yard, outdoor couches, rocking chairs, swings and garden benches. Other recycled plastic furniture options include side tables, cocktail tables, dining chairs and round cafe tables. Some recycled plastic deck furniture is made to look like wood, but white and colored varieties are available as well.
Gardening Accessories
Look for recycled plastic products when replacing your gardening tools and shapers, such as recycled plastic garden beds and stakes. Small raised bed gardening greenhouses and raised bed kits and accessories, large lumber planter boxes, high-rise garden beds, compost bins and window planter boxes are also available. If you are interested in purchasing a rain barrel, try looking for plastic rain barrels made from recycled food-grade barrels or from recycled plastic and oak.
Clothing and Accessories
Dresses and other clothes are made from recycled plastic both by professional and amateur designers. Shoes, belts and jewelry such as necklaces and bracelets made with wire and pieces of recycled shampoo bottles also exist. Recycled plastic produces handbags of all shapes and sizes, including coin and credit card purses and full-size bags created from hundreds of plastic bags or from large plastic pieces. Hats are another item that can be made of plastic bags. Bracelets and wallets made from recycled plastic are also available.
Other Products
Additional products made from recycled plastic include notebooks featuring recycled paper, and plastic bag covers or coasters constructed by knitting plastic bags. Pen holders are another recycled plastic product, as are baby bibs and some pieces of art. Sculpture made with recycled plastic or other recycled materials is common in 21st-century art. Examples include animals sculpted from Wonder Bread bags and paintings made with recycled plastic.
