Join Sections Of Metal Rain Gutters

Joining sections of metal rain gutters together is done with some common shop tools. The metal gutters can fit together by cutting part of the gutter with tin snips and fastening the gutters together with pop rivets. Silicone caulk will make the gutters watertight. Joining the sections of metal rain gutters together can take between 15 and 30 minutes per section. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Trim the top edges of one of the metal rain gutter sections back four inches from the end with a pair of tin snips. Place a bead of silicone caulk across the interior bottom and sides of the metal gutter that was trimmed back with a caulk gun about two inches from the end.

2. Slide a section of metal rain gutter into the rain gutter that has the silicone caulk up to where the top edges are trimmed back and fasten the metal pieces together with pop rivets and a pop rivet gun. Place two rivets on the bottom and two on each side of the metal gutters.

3. Place the silicone caulk over each pop rivet and place a bead of caulk along the inside edge of the metal gutter to make the gutter watertight.

4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for each additional metal rain gutter section.
