Make your own classified website.
When people are looking for an apartment, a used car or anything else that individuals rent or sell, they often turn to the classified ads in a newspaper. But in our computer age, many people will go to the Internet to find these things. This means that a good way to make some money on the Internet is to create a website for your local community where people can post classified ads. And to save overhead costs, you can place your site on one of the many free hosts that are available.
Instructions
1. Decide how you want your site to be arranged. The best approach is to create a series of columns and rows, which will provide cells into which you can place the ads.
2. Decide on your policies and pricing structure. For example, you will want to know what type of items (if any) that you won't list, for ethical, legal or liability reasons. Decide how long an ad will appear and how much you will charge, if you will charge at all. You might have several options you offer, with discounts for ads that stay up longer. Your prices should be competitive with the local print classifieds.
3. Load any logo, images or graphics onto your computer and save them all to the same folder.
4. Open the Paint program that comes with Windows. Use it to edit the images that you want to use for your site. For example, you can use the "Rectangular" selection tool combined with the Copy and Paste function, found under Edit, to crop images.
5. Sign up for an account with a free hosting service. Then, on your account page, click on the site building utility and use its tools to create the pages and structure of your site. For instance, some such hosting services have a "Table" creation tool that will allow you to make the columns and rows for your site's ads.
6. Use the graphics upload function to add your images where you want them. Then use the "Text" tool to add the main text as well as any ads. You will also want to include a section explaining the text length and content requirements for any ads, as well as an email link where ads can be submitted. You will also need to include a button linking to an online payment acceptance service.
