Test A Wildview Feeder

A Wildview Feeder allows you to feed area wildlife.

Before you go to the expense of filling it and setting it up near your deer stand, you should test out your new Wildview Feeder so you know properly use it. Wildview Feeders are made by the company best known for its field cameras that take pictures of deer and other wildlife in prime hunting locations. The feeders, which range in size from 40-pound hanging feeders to 270-pound tripod feeders, may be set up to feed wildlife a number of times per day with a varying amount of food dispersed each time. Each feeder is designed to be animal tamper-proof and resistant to moisture and rain.

Instructions

1. Install the batteries in your Wildview feeder.

Assemble your feeder according to directions given in your owner's manual. Assembly is simple and should only take a few minutes. Install the correct batteries required to operate your feeder and timer.

2. Use your garden hose to test whether your Wildview feeder is resistant to moisture.

Test your feeder for its moisture-resistant features. These are especially important because if your feed gets wet within the feeder, it may clog up and not disperse correctly. With a garden hose, spray water up over the feeder in such a way that you mimic rain landing on the top of the feeder. To test the feeder even further, spray the feeder directly with the hose with a medium-strength force. Open the feeder and look for traces of water. If none are seen, you have applied the lid to the feeder correctly and it will likely prove to be waterproof in the timber.

3. Raccoons and other animals like to tamper with feeders in the wild. Your Wildview feeder is advertised as tamper-proof.

Check for the feeder's resistance to rodents and other animals. Put a small amount of feed into the feeder and set it up where you know squirrels or raccoons are prevalent. Leave it out overnight. Check on it the next day. If the lid is up and removed, the feeder was not resistant to other animals. However, if you find the feeder completely intact with the food still inside, the feeder will be safe to put out in your hunting destination.

4. Set the digital timer for when you'd like the feeder to dispense food.

Experiment with the timer and feeding function. Wildview feeders will dispense feed up to 16 times within a 24-hour period. The feeder gives you an option to dispense feed for 2 to 30 seconds. Put food in the feeder. Set the timer to dispense within a minute or two and set the dispense rate for 10 seconds. If you want more or less food dispensed at a time, change the settings accordingly. You will need to adjust settings for all times set to dispense.
