Instructions

Shipping Materials and Preparation

1. Purchase a box or boxes and packing materials (bubble wrap, foam peanuts and tape). When choosing the proper box, select one that is 2- to 4-inches larger in each dimension than the item to be shipped. For example, a 14-inch by 5-inch snare drum would fit into a 16-inch by 16-inch box.

2. Disassemble the drum set in preparation for shipping. If you remove the heads of the drums you should be able to pack the drums inside each other so that you don't have to use as many boxes. You only need to remove the head of a drum if you're putting another drum inside it.

3. Put all small parts and accessories into a separate bag, then seal the bag and wrap it in bubble wrap. Also wrap the legs of the floor tom in bubble wrap. This will prevent the hardware from damaging the drums during shipping.

4. Wrap each drum in bubble wrap, preferably the kind with the large bubbles. The bubble wrap should be secured around the drum with tape. Use extra bubble wrap around sharp parts of the drum.

5. Place several layers of bubble wrap or a layer of foam peanuts in the bottom of the box for protection.

6. Place the bass drum inside of the box and then place the other drums inside of the bass drum, from largest to smallest.

7. Place the bag of hardware on top of the 13-inch tom. The head should still be in place on the tom since there is no drum going inside it.

8. Place the legs of the floor tom into the corners of the box.

9. Fill in space around and inside of the drums with packing material to ensure that the drums don't move during shipping. Fill the empty space in the box and inside the drums with packing material until the packing material is flush with the top of the drums.

10. Place the heads on top of the drums, from smallest to largest, without securing them. This will seal the packing material inside the drums.

11. Fill the space on top of the drum heads with packing material.

12. Seal with box with tape and take it to the courier of your choice.
