Drip irrigation
conserves water and waters only the area needed. Drip irrigation systems can be small drippers to micro-sprinklers for flowerbeds and can be customized to every landscape. Make a rough drawing of the areas you are going to water. Dense areas such as flowerbeds or ground cover use one micro-sprayer every five to six feet. For shrubs, vines and roses, use one to two drippers per plant with a minimum distance of 12 inches apart. There are several kits that include everything needed. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Connect the items in this order by screwing them into each other by hand: back-flow valve to the water valve, pressure regulator, debris filter, tubing adapter and finally the tubing.
2. Lay the hose in the area that you want watered and put stakes every three feet to hold down the drip tubing. Cut the tubing at the end, leaving at least an extra six inches; cap the end to prevent leaking.
3. Cut the tubing at each plant and plug in one to two emitters (they are like sprinkler heads) or micro-sprinklers.
4. Turn on the water slowly and watch for leaks.
