History
Garden Ridge has its beginnings in San Antonio, Texas, in 1979. Since that year, Garden Ridge has developed into a home decorating accessories powerhouse with 43 different stores throughout the South and Midwest. They are all owned and operated by Garden Ridge, as there are no franchises.

Garden Ridge has locations in Georgia, Alabama, Ohio, Florida, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma,Tennessee, South Carolina, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Nebraska, Missouri and Virginia. The store is currently expanding and plans to open more locations throughout the rest of the country, as well.

Garden Ridge sells home decorating supplies for the garden, but also has a large amount of baskets, crafts, home accents, candles, home textiles, patio furniture, frames, pictures, pottery, dried flowers, silk flowers and much more. Most Garden Ridge stores span more than three acres and are located directly off of large highways.

Garden Ridge, though started in 1979, was purchased by a group of investors guided by Three City Research in the year 2000. In May of 2005, Garden Ridge underwent Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection, which they filed for in February of 2004. The CEO of Garden Ridge is Mary McNabb.
Features
Garden Ridge sells gift cards that can be bought at any store location throughout the United States. Garden Ridge credit cards used to be offered, though they are no longer available. For the shopping convenience of its customers, Garden Ridge offers motorized cart shopping experiences (very helpful considering the size of the stores).
