Gutter conversion kits aid in your rain barrel setup.
Rain barrels are containers that hook into the gutter of a home and collect water runoff. Using a rain barrel cuts down on water consumption by allowing you to attach a hose and tap into the collected water for your garden. In order to attach a rain barrel to your gutter, you'll need a gutter conversion kit. There are a variety of models available from different manufacturers. Does this Spark an idea?
Garden Watersaver Downspout
The Garden Watersaver Downspout attachment allows for easy gutter conversion and rain barrel attachment. The kit includes a water diverter unit, hose tubing to allow for different barrel placements, a deactivation plug and fastening screws. A back pressure system prevents rain barrel overflow. Instead of running through the barrel's overflow hose, the pressure diverts it back through the downspout.
Gutterworks
Gutterworks offers two types of gutter conversion kits for rain barrels. Choose from the inline diverter system or the offset diverter system. The inline system allows you to place your rain barrel in front of your downspout and hook your gutter directly inside. The offset system allows for barrel placement off to the side if an object is in the way. Both come with a lever to allow change in the direction of the water flow if you need to stop using the barrel.
Aquabarrel Off-Set Downspout Diverter
The Aquabarrel Off-Set Downspout Diverter comes with four pieces: a "Y" downspout diverter, two styles of 90-degree elbows and a zig-zag leg extension. A 2-inch-by-3-inch and 3-inch-by-4-inch model are available, accommodating most standard gutters. The device comes with a lever that allows for a simple way to divert the flow of the water if your rain barrel is full or winter is on its way. Made of downspout grade aluminum, you can choose from one of 10 color options.
Fiskars 5962 Rain Barrel DiverterPro Kit
The Fiskars 5962 Rain Barrel DiverterPro Kit comes with a diverter, couplers, connector filter and connecter hose and fits gutters of standard size. The filter catches any debris that gets into your gutters and prevents it from going into the rain barrel. When the filter is full of debris, it is easy to remove for cleaning. When the rain barrel becomes full, the water automatically diverts the water back down the original gutter line preventing overflow.
