One type of water storage system that you can use to store water is a rain barrel. This type of system is used to collect rain runoff from your roof. The water that flows down through a downspout is collected in the rain barrel. To install a rain barrel you need to first determine where to locate the barrel. Once the system is installed you will begin to collect water during the next rainfall. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Measure the height of the rain barrel with the tape measure. Make a note of the measurement on a piece of paper.
2. Measure up the downspout where you want to place the rain barrel. Make a mark at the height that you noted for the rain barrel using the felt tip marker.
3. Cut the downspout on the mark you made with the hacksaw. Position the rain barrel directly under the downspout. Align the water collection hole in the top of the barrel
4. Attach one end of the universal downspout adapter to the end of the downspout. Place the other end of the downspout adapter into the water collection hole on the rain barrel.
