History
The first Crate & Barrel store was opened in Chicago in the 1960s. It was inspired by a couple who had recently returned from traveling Europe and missed seeing the designs and styles overseas. The store started with one employee and no displays. Shipping crates and barrels were used for display shelves, creating the name for the company.

Crate & Barrel has all kinds of merchandise for every room in your home. They sell furniture, kitchen supplies, bed linens and bathroom sets. Crate & Barrel also carries a large line of seasonal merchandise, including Christmas ornaments and other holiday-themed items.
Location
