Connect A Pvc Pipe To A Water Hose

Connecting a water hose to PVC pipe is a first step in installing a drip-irrigation system.

Whether building a drip-irrigation system or a water drill, you will need to supply water to the system for it to perform. To furnish water to the system, an adapter needs to be solvent-welded to the PVC to allow the water hose to connect to the end of the PVC pipe. The adapter needs to have male hose threads for the water hose and a socket to connect to the end of the PVC piping system. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove large burrs from the end of the PVC pipe by running the emery cloth around the cut end of the pipe.

2. Apply primer to the inside of the PVC male hose thread adapter and to the length of the outside of the PVC pipe equal to the depth of the male hose thread adapter socket.

3. Immediately apply PVC cement to the primed interior surface of the PVC male hose thread adapter and the outside of the PVC pipe. Apply enough PVC cement to the two pieces to ensure that when you fit the two pieces together the air space between the adapter and the PVC pipe is filled completely with the PVC cement.

4. Slide the glued end of the PVC male hose thread adapter onto the glued end of the PVC pipe. While you are sliding the pieces together, turn the adapter to even out the PVC cement within the connection, and then hold the pieces together for thirty seconds to allow the PVC cement to bond the pieces together.

5. Turn the brass female connector of the water hose clockwise to connect the water hose to the PVC pipe after you allow the PVC cement to cure.
